This site is dedicated to the memory of Cecily Smith.

This tribute fund is in memory of my much loved mum, who died on 15th October 2007 from mantle cell lymphoma. Mum was extremely loving and kind, with a real sense of fun, and a great sense of humour. She was very young for her age in looks and character, and we all assumed she would live well into her eighties, and probably beyond. The fact that she is no longer here, and that she went so quickly and to something like lymphoma, is something that is still hard to believe. She was a wonderful mum and friend and I miss her greatly. Mum would go out of her way to help others, and this was one of the reasons she agreed to go on a clinical trial for her kind of lymphoma when she was first diagnosed, even though she was aware it might not benefit her for long. It did help her for a few months, but at some point the lymphoma went into her central nervous system, and then there was little that could be done for her. She died four months later, just a week before what would have been her 73rd birthday. Since her death, I have tried to find out as much as I can about her kind of lymphoma. The support that the Lymphoma Association gives both patients and their family is extremely important. Letting people know about all the aspects of any kind of lymphoma is the best way forward. We were totally unprepared for the progress of my mum's disease. I would like to think that nobody else would have to go through what she did. It is for this reason that I set up this tribute fund dedicated to her memory.
